The Ghost mantis is a quiet kind of praying mantis. It is a typical sit-and-wait predator. Relying on her camouflage it waits patiently until an unsuspecting prey comes along. Once she sees her prey, she will attack very fast.
We set out to build the lightest, most mobile, most versatile elevated hunting system ever made. Not only is that a mouthful, but a huge challenge.
Throughout the process, the design team kept the goal in focus: 16 oz or less in total weight. For some reason we didn’t think that was a big enough mountain to climb. On top of ultra-light, we added ultra-strong to the checklist. We decided to meet the 22kN (5,000 lb) minimum strength rating set forth by the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA). The UIAA is certifies harnesses, ropes, and hardware used to climb and operate in the harshest conditions on earth: Mount Everest. We figured if it’s tough enough for Everest, it’s tough enough for us.
At times we didn’t think it would be possible, especially when testers asked for more options like dedicated lineman loops, adjustment straps, reinforcing in high stress areas, and modular accessory options. The list of nice-to-haves piled on and the weight added up. However, we had an ace in the hole with this project: Carl Kossuth. Carl is a wizard when it comes to prototyping gear. He’s the Michael Jordan of thread injecting.
Between the saddle experience of the design team and testers, and the hocus pocus of Carl the Sorcerer, we were able to crack the code on the world’s lightest production hunting saddle, add in every feature request, and not only meet, but EXCEED the UIAA standards of testing.
The result is the world’s lightest, full-function, elevated hunting saddle ever built. We’re in love. If you try it, you will be too.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
